Melbourne

Life in the parklands is an interesting experience here in Melbourne.

Firstly, there's the food!  Such a wide variety of insects and bugs to choose from!  My favourite ones are the stink bugs!  Most of my friends say you have to block your nose before you even get close enough to eat them!  Luckily for me, I have no nose!  I can lift up a log from the local billabong (being wary of snakes - especially those nasty tiger ones... sheesh) or shake a tree branch and down they come.  One by one, I pop 'em into my mouth and chew...  deeeeeeeelicious!

The aftertaste is amazing!  As Pumba on The Lion King said, "Slippery, yet satisfying!"

However, there are some bugs that AREN'T friendly.  I saw some very attractive young caterpillar creatures all wriggling together on the bark of a tree.  I was fascinated by this so I took a step closer.  Then, the things spat at me and my lovely greyish outer exterior began stinging!  By the way, if anyone can inform me as to the names of these unfriendly creatures that should be banished from the parklands, I would be grateful.  I tried to snap a photo of them but was too frightened and quickly ran away as fast as my tiny '80 times smaller than the rest of my body' legs could carry me.

There are other great features of the local parklands.  You may have visited them before.  What did you discover?  Would love to hear your experiences...

The other wonderful thing about living in the parklands... is the beauty, although, the grasses (if you can still call it that) are white as there has been no rain.
